Penalties for offenders

I’m sick of seeing huge packaging thrown from cars, when it’s easy to bin it later, especially takeaways.

First off it needs to be less accepted when people litter around others- it needs to be ‘uncool’ amongst kids & teens to litter. Penalties should be enforced via cctv, or even if a video is passed on- set up a litter blog where people can post videos anonymously and enforcement officers to follow through.

Add a unique reference to takeaway boxes that links back to the original receipt and fine people where these aren’t binned properly.

Why the contribution is important

Because more action is needed from users and suppliers

Completely agree. We need to educate children from nursery/ infant school on that litter is disgusting. The yobs that throw it from cars have probably seen their parents do it, we need to break the cycle. In the meantime a way of reporting and then heavily fining these lazy people who can't be bothered to take litter home and would rather chuck it out of the window is needed. These fines would pay for a litter teams own PCSO's to deal with these incidents. Over time littering would be seen to be extremely anti-social.

Yes people need to understand that littering is antisocial and not big or clever in any way.

I second all of the above - we need education, law enforcement, heavy penalties, etc. We need to make this 'anti social'. I have tried to intercept youths throwing McDonalds packaging out of a car window - it was not a wise move on my part due to the response I received (!) - they seemed to think that that's what their car window was for. Total ignorance. I now have a dash cam and would love to have a way of uploading this somewhere should the same happen again so that I wouldn't have to confront them, but could easily report.
