Make businesses more accountable

Offer incentives for takeaway business to use better packaging. Less plastic, etc. 

 

Why the contribution is important

Because if the packaging is littered then it will degrade.

    Local corner shops need to take more responsibility. Discarded scratch cards and plastic bottles are a common sight near shops. I don't know whether McDonalds and KFC contribute towards keeping the Borough clean, but if they don't they should, as their packing can be seen often by the side of the road.

    Businesses should be given responsibility of the pavement outside each shop. So they keep it clear if weeds and litter

    Businesses should absolutely be held responsible. Most of the rubbish thrown by cars onto verges is fast food containers and wrapping or bottles. If they do not voluntarily come up with actions to reduce this then a ‘takeaway tax ’ of some sort should be levied on the producer or the consumer or both. The incentive scheme mentioned is a brilliant idea. use the carrot and the stick!
