CCTV and Litter Champions

I appreciate the cost of CCTV and having Staff available to monitor/view it but on the outlying areas such as the dual carriageways I believe you would recoup the costs with the fines people should have to pay when caught. I am sure I’m not the only one that is astonished and disgusted in this day and age that people still think it is acceptable to church/drop litter.

Additionally, in the town centres perhaps employ either more PSCO’ s  or civilians litter champions who can issue on the spot fines.

Why the contribution is important

Because the amount of litter still being dropped is disgusting and we need to tackle it head on.

I would also ask that CCTV is installed to other areas that are litter hot spots. Hospital Road and Leigh Road, Pontypool is continually littered with fast food packaging and cans/ plastic bottles thrown out of cars. The old Hospital site is also a magnet for fly tippers. If people were made aware they were on camera and faced a fine they would think twice.
